X-WR-CALDESC:The District 9 FFA Mechanics contest will be held on February 
 27\, 2025\, at ABC in Westlake.  All contests will start at 9:00\, Louisia
 na FFA Mechanics rules and questions will be used in these events.  As alw
 ays ABC will provide lunch and refreshments for participating FFA contesta
 nts.  Attached is the hold harmless form which must be signed and turned i
 n at each contest site before the start of each event.  I ask that each sc
 hool in the district e-mail or call me back with how many teams they plan 
 on bringing to help prepare for these events. Information pertaining to ea
 ch event is listed below. \n\nPlease read this e-mail and updated ABC Shop
  Rule attachments in their entirety\n\n Arc Welding\nA)        Team member
 s will be responsible for providing proper safety equipment\, dress\, and 
 welding gear. (Chipping hammer\, Welding gloves\, welding shield\, approve
 d clear lens grinding/chipping eye and face protective device\, tip cleane
 r\, striker\, ear plugs\, shirt tails tucked in while grinding\, approved 
 welding cap\, jackets zipped/buttoned\, tongs\, leather shoes [ no tennis 
 shoes]\, soap stone\, measuring tape and square\, etc.).  No holes or fray
 s in clothing.  ABC will provide electrodes (6010 5p+ and 3/32 7018). Each
  school must provide their metal. (2 plates per team) 3/8” x 6' x 8' plate
  with a 33-degree bevel on both 6' sides and 4 ½” disc and wire brush grin
 ders.  Grinders must have safety shields\, handles\, no cuts\, cracks\, or
  tape on cords and paddle switches.  Each contestant must bring their own 
 clear grinding face shield\, cutting shields will be provided by ABC. \n 
 \nB.)  Grinders must have paddle switches\, grinders with locking switches
  not permitted in ABC’s Welding Shop\n \nC.)  Tig Welding Gloves cannot be
  used in the place of Welding Gloves\n \n    D.)    No welding will take p
 lace prior to welding contest\, machines are to be  adjusted during contes
 t welding time.\n            E.)     Contestants cannot use Auto-darken ho
 ods while using grinders.  Only clear face shields are to be used while gr
 inding and wire brushing.  \n          F.)    Plates may arrive landed wit
 h mill scale removed\n   \nSmall Engines\nAll troubleshoot engines must be
  brought to Moss Bluff Mowers by February 24\, 2025  (337-855- 2983 ).  Ea
 ch participant must have a stopwatch\, safety glasses\, and his or her own
  tools.  Current rules and updated questions will be applied to this event

 FA webpage.\n\nElectricity\nCurrent rules and updated questions will be ap
