District 7 Welding CDE
The District 7 Welding Competition will be held on March 14, 2024 at Sowela Technical Community College in Leesville. The competition will begin at 9:00 AM and current FFA Welding rules will be followed.
Each participant will need to bring 3/8" x 6" x 8" piece of flatbar to the competition. Each 6" side will need to have a 33 degree bevel.
Lincoln Rods will be PROVIDED so that there are no mix-ups. The rods to be used will be 1/8” E6010-5P+++ and 3/32” E7018. (Revised 2014)
No rods other than those provided will be allowed into the booths.
The participants will need to bring grinders. root pass can be ground, all other passes may be wire-wheeled only. Safety glasses, long-sleeved shirts (tucked in), long pants, boots (no tennis shoes), gloves, cutting goggles (not sunglasses) are required at all appropriate times. Please bring all safety forms with you to the contest.
**No pancake welding helmets will be allowed
The number of teams will be limited to (two) 2-person teams from each school. Alternates will be allowed to weld as time permits It will be announced upon arrival as to whether the welds will be horizontal or vertical. The teams with the farthest to travel home will be allowed to go first in order to give them enough time to make it home.
